Recently, my wife and I spend over two weeks on vacation driving through various areas of eleven states. While driving through these states, some states multiple times in vastly different areas of the state, I paid close attention to what was going on around the cities, suburbs, and rural areas from an economic perspective. After listening to the news over the last year and a half I was a bit shocked because what I was hearing and reading from some main stream media news sources about the economy, society in general, and employment didn’t seem to correlate with what I was seeing with my own eyes.
I’ve been hearing from some news sources that our society is in turmoil, the economy is terrible, food prices are too expensive for people to eat, gas prices are stifling absolutely everything, businesses and restaurants can’t find help, customers aren’t willing to pay the higher prices for food and service, unemployment is terrible, it’s all gloom and doom. Well folks, based on what I saw in eleven states, nearly 3,800 miles, over more than two weeks of driving through cities, suburbs, and rural areas, I’m here to tell you that what you’re being told by the main stream media complex is a bunch of crap!
What I saw was building, building, and more building employing lots and lots of workers in every city we went through! Lots of building of new homes in suburbs and rural areas! Lots of road and bridge work along major interstates, state highways, side roads and city streets that are employing lots of workers. Restaurants are full of customers from all walks of life, many with waiting lines, and they all appear to be fully staffed. Despite some of our groceries being more expensive than the were 10 years ago, the grocery store parking lots are full of cars, the carts coming out of the stores are full! Hotels are either full, or close to full, with pleasure and business travelers plus there are plenty of road construction workers filling rooms. Gas stations were full of commuters and travelers filling their tanks to the brim and stocking up on junk food and coffee for the road.
It appears to me that billions and billions of dollars is being spent in building, maintenance, entertainment, and the service industry in virtually all the areas I drove through whether it was in the cities, suburbs, all neighborhoods, or rural areas. All those dollars being spent are trickling down to directly and indirectly support other local businesses, individuals, and families who are spending their earned dollars. People of all walks of life are out enjoying and working in the world around them and spending lots of money in the process.
Conversations in restaurants emanating from surrounding tables weren’t full of all that negative gloom and doom that I’ve been hearing from some news sources, they were positive people from all walks of life with generally happy smiling faces. People are even looking over the tops of their cell phones and happily talking to those around them treating each other like human beings instead of their hated political or racial enemy; the horror!
What I witnessed wasn’t like the constant narrative I’ve been hearing from the main stream media complex that basically the “the sky is falling” because Donald Trump is President of the United States of America, it was quite the opposite.
How can this be?
How is it possible that the media is so transparently out of touch with what’s going on?
As far as I’m concerned, the sky is falling propaganda narratives I’m hearing from the main stream media complex are cherry picked examples of gloom and doom to support their hate filled partisan narratives and their cherry picked examples are being extrapolated to absurdity, in other words the sky is falling narratives are utter bull shit for the vast majority of “We the People”. The media is piling on absurd amounts of negative, fake, and extrapolated news to brainwash you into believing that the sky is falling; don’t swallow their bull shit.
Now, something more positive.
Here are a few vacation highlights.
There are lots of interesting things to see and do across the United States of America. Take the time to drive around the country, enjoy the unique scenery, enjoy the overall culture that freedom gives us, and enjoy the unique sub cultures that are all over the country. Most of all, take time to enjoy talking with people, they may seem distant but they’re your USA neighbors not your enemies!
Life is short.

Nice! And unsurprising
Seeing you’re fond of waterfalls, consider visiting the (unofficial) Waterfall Capital of WESconsin: Iron County.
