“Opinion Bigotry” is out of control in politics. Politicians and their constituents seem to no longer have any tolerance for opposing opinions; debating merit has been replaced with demonize the messenger. Respect, integrity and truth have become a thing of the past and been replaced with the ends justify the means. We all need to take responsibility for what has happened.
Politicians attitudes directly reflect We the People; therefore, we are the source of the problem. We the People must change our behavior before we can tell our politicians that they must change theirs or we are hypocrites, period! We must have a reasonable level of respect for others opinions, have personal integrity, support truth – the whole truth, encourage ethical behavior, and condemn unethical behavior even if it comes from our side of the argument!
Some think that campaign contributions is the root of all the evil; however, I say that once integrity is restored in politicians and enforced by the will of the people, money contributions to campaigns will have little to no affect on policy.
If we truly want to change politics, the change must start with We the People.
